Finally, although he admitted that certain of his friends had accused him of megalomania arising out of his recent involvement in Press publicity in the United Kingdom on the Godber case, he stated that he maintained very close contacts with British and Chinese officers in the Hong Kong Police as well as prominent local figures and that at any time he could obtain accurate and detailed information on the local situation, as he put it, "by telephoning direct to Hong Kong"

10. In addition to the foregoing there was a lot of innuendo directed against the monopolistic hold over Hong Kong affairs exercised by Jardine Matheson and Co et al as well as the "Hong Kong chinese capitalist clique" and reference to the lack of representation of the Chinese masses in Hong Kong.
