Dear Dick,
NXKI4 17
I am sorry to have taken rather long to respond to your letter of the 3rd. August, reporting the information given to Mr. Driberg about four Police Officers said to be engaged in corrupt practices.
Having now checked, I find that three of the four are in the Police Force here, and that the fourth
retired recently. But our Director of Anti- Corruption, to whom I passed on the information in your letter, understandably points out that it is not even concrete enough to form a useful basis for enquiries.
This I think accords with your own judgement and I doubt whether we can usefully take the matter further unless Mr. Driberg's informant changes his mind and decides to make more specific allegations.
