My dear David,

The Cottage, Iden Lock,

Near Rye,

Sussex, England.

10th June, 1973.

"H"

Firstly let me apologise for not telling you of my intentions. After Lindy kindly volunteered to look after Jean's belongings if I was unable to do so (arrest, remands, etc.) I decided to join her. I therefore cannot supervise the packing of my home in any case.

Can I therefore encroach upon your very good nature and you assume the highly unpleasant duty of watching and generally supervising the removal of my belongings from no.14 Caldecott Road 7th floor? In anticipation of your agreement, I have already written to my solicitor Ir. Gunston Room 505 5th floor, Central Building nominating you as the the person in charge if you agree. I have asked him to contact you and confirm the following arrangements.

Firstly, with effect from tomorrow, Ankie Howe, Packer, 84 Hennessy Road, Telephone number 5-277018 will move in and continue the operation that I have commenced. When all is completed, the whole lot is to be moved into the Kowloon Wharf and Godown and await shipment by a non conference ship (it's cheaper) to this address. The shippers are Wai Toong Hong Manager - and very helpful Mr. W.C. Lee. He already knows about it. Payment for Ankie Howe is already arranged. If it is any more than contemplated let me know and I will forward. The Wai Toong Hong can come straight to me for settlement. There is a book in the quarter listing the contents of the boxes which can be classified generally as kitchen ware, house- hold goods and clothing. Insurance value may be $5,000. Vai Toong Hong telephone number is 250047.

Possibly

I understand from Jean that when she was leaving, she asked Susan to pass on such items as we had already sold. Lindy can liaise with her?

Can you arrange for the quarter windows to be fixed after the removal of the air-conditioners. When all these tasks have been completed please let me know the cost, David, and to whom I should send the money.

There is also the car: This is sitting on the roof of the sea terminal near the entrance to the Hong Tong Hotel and about the middle of the roof. It is as you may recall a Humber snipe AE 1066. The keys and the ticket are under the driver's seat. Can you please take it and sell it for what it is worth taking your costs on all those other matters out of it? Disposal of the vehicle would appear to be the only answer.

For your information I have already sent a cable to Gunston asking him to tell the Hong Kong Government I have resigned, that his professional fee and further instructions are following.
