Some of the papers believed that harsh sentences should be accompanied by other positive measures.

Sing Tao Man Po (12.5.73), Wah Kiu Yat Po (12.5.73, 14.5.73), Hong Kong Times (14.5.73), Nam Wah Man Po (14.5.73) and Sing Tao Jih Po (16.5.73) suggested that the Government should also look into the family and school education and social environment of our youth.

New Evening Post (communist) (14.5.73) emphasized that all vice dens should be wiped out.
