DEATH SENTENCE IN HONG KONG

1. Lord Gardiner, Chairman of the Council of Justice, the

British Section of the International Commission of Jurists,

wrote to the Secretary of State on 10 May about the death

sentence on TSOI Kwok-cheong in Hong Kong.

2. I attach a draft reply from the Secretary of State to

Lord Gardiner. The department's Legal Adviser agrees.
