On the question of whether one board would be

sufficient to administer the scheme for compensating both victims of violent crimes and victims of law-enforcement officers using weapons in the execution of their duty, we concluded that both types of scheme should be dealt with by the same board. However, we strongly suggest that the title of the board should be altered when it is dealing with accidental victims of law-enforcement officers, because we think it would be improper and undesirable to equate the violence of criminals with the acts of law-enforcement officers acting in good faith in the execution of the ir duty. We suggest that when dealing with compensation for victims of crimes of violence the board's title should be the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and when dealing with injuries caused by law-enforcement officers its title should be the Law-enforcement Injuries Compensation Board.
