Amend the Criminal Procedure Ordinance.

ANNEX CL

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof,

Short title

and commence-

ment.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Criminal

Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance, 1973 and shall come into

operation on a date to be appointed by the Governor by notice

in the Gazette.

Addition of heading and sections 109I and 1093. (Cap. 221.)

The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after section 1094 the following heading and sections -

Preventive detention, /Cf. 1948 C.53, 3.21.7

"Preventive Detention.

109I. (1) Where a person who is not less

than 25 years of age

(a) is convicted before a court of an

offence punishable with imprisonment

for a term of 2 years or more;

(b) has been convicted on at least 3

previous occasions since he attained

the age of 17 of offences punishable

with such a sentence;

occasions sentenced to a custodial

sentence; and
