1. You will be interested to see the attached letter from Mr Hope (DTI) which gives an account of the meeting there with Mr Eric Ho and Mr Sellars on 19 February.
2. Paragraph 2 is interesting as it shows that DTI think Hong Kong's action in suspending shipments of man-made fibre exports to Germany was not as successful as it should have been because Hong Kong tried to set future levels too high.
3. Paragraph 4 confirms DTI's fears of their becoming too involved in Hong Kong's negotiations with the EEC. The last sentence of the letter is also interesting.
4. I intend to send a short acknowledgement on the lines of the attached draft.
