a visit to Hong Kong, as part of a Far East tour,

from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 October. No public-

announcement had been made as Mr Royle intended to

consult the Governor on whether the proposed timing

of this visit was right: Mr Royle will wish to

to cancel his visit for the time being, in view of

parliamentary business. We have already informed

the Governor by telephone and have sent a telegram

to Hong Kong.
