4 p.m. we went to see the H.K. Students Centre: there were 35
rooms: 74 beds.

Morning: to visit the Greater London Council.
Leaving Hotel at 10.15 a.m., we arrived at 10.30 a.m.
Talk with Mr. Paddy O'Conner (Alderman) about Advertisement By-laws, Recreational Facilities, Entertainment Programmes and Housing up to 12 o'clock.
Received by the Chairman, Mr. Wicks, in his chambers. He presented an emblem which I received on behalf of the Urban Council.
Lunch at Royal Festival Hall,
2.45 p.m. to Thamesmead Housing Estate. The concept of Public Housing is to provide reasonable accommodations for every class.
A house
about £700 per year as rent.
A flat of 2 rooms (per 3 persons)
about £450 per year as rent.
There is a reduction of rent if a family has many children and/or is unemployed.
5.30 p.m. the 4 Councillors went to see Mr. Anthony Royle. Ne
had a talk with him for about one hour.
25th October, 1973 (Thursday)
Morning: to see the Mayor of Hammersmith.
There are all together 32 boroughs in the Greater London area. Population of a borough is about 250,000 to 300,000.

Then went to Fulham Town Hall to talk with Mr. Parsley about entertainment, and Mr. Collier about hygiene. Mr. Collier said that some of our Regulations about Food Hygiene wore more advanced than theirs, and he would like to have a copy of our Regulations about Food Hygiene. We also saw the Exhibition of Health Education. It was very impressive.

Mornings to visit Port of London Authority (P.L.A.).
We were received by Mr. John Lunch, Director. A Souvenir
was presented to the U.C.
We were shown a film about the P.L.A.
Lunch with a public relation officer. After lunch, I and Kenneth Lo saw the Cargo-handling equipment at Tilbury Docks.
27th October, 1973. (Saturday)
Left Hotel at 9.15 a.m. by car to Oxford. Arrived at Oxford at 10.45 a.m. Met by Mr. Smith (a Royal Air Force retired officer). Lunch with Mr. Fleet (F.A.), Deputy Registrar of Oxford University.
Stayed at Randolph Hotel.
28th October, 1973. (Sunday)
Car picked me from Hotel at 11 a.m. Then driven to Stratford to see birth place of Shakespeare and his wife, and also visited the church.
Return by train and arrived in Hotel at 6.30 p.m.
29th October, 1973.

10.30 a.m. arrived at Bristol.

Left Bristol by train at 4.40 p.m. Arrived at Hotel at about 7 p.m.

Left Hotel with Mr. James on foot.
9.35 a.m. arrived at Parliament.
9.45 a.m. to 12 noon, we saw the State Opening of Parliament.

12 noon to 1 p.m., cocktails with Commonwealth
Parliamentarians at Westminster Building, arranged by Mr. Peter Molloy.
Official program ended.
I understand that each of us were seen off by Mr. M. Pelly, Planning Chief in the Central Information Office. It is considered that the programme was well arranged and the visit was useful. We are also grateful for the hospitality of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. The Draft of this Report has been previously shown to the Members of the Group.
