SPONSORED VISIT BY MEMBERS OF HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL

1. In my submission of 17 September, I gave the names of the

members of the group due to visit us shortly. As you know it

has now been agreed that the Chairman of the Urban Council,

Mr Arnold O De Sales, will also be a member of the delegation,

which will arrive in London on 21 October and leave on

31 October. The outline programme is attached. The revised

programme is now being completed by IAD. We have been asked to

arrange a call at the FCO on the morning of Monday 22 October,

preferably at about 12 noon. I recommend that if he is able to

do so Sir D Watson should receive the delegation.

Mr Royle will give the party lunch on 22 October.

Sir D Watson minuted that he would hope to be able to take part

in entertainment of the Urban Council visitors, subject to the

dates of his proposed visit to Hong Kong. If he would also like

to entertain the delegation on a theatre outing and/or to dinner,

as he did when the UMELCO delegation came last year, this would

be possible the evening of 22, 24, 25 or 26 October.
