RECEPTION FOR THE NEW TERRITORIES HEUNG YEE KUK DELEGATION AT LANCASTER HOUSE ON 19 JUNE AT 6 PM
1. I submit a draft guest list for the reception to be given
by Mr Royle on 19 June in honour of the delegation from the
New Territories, Heung Yee Kuk, who will be visiting the
United Kingdom and Europe from 17 June until mid July.

I think the list is all right as far as it goes, but since this is the first large reception for Hong Kong, at least for
some time, I think we should also cast our net a bit wider to
include newspapermen, the BBC, academic China watchers, perhaps
some representatives of the Gurkhas who have served in Hong Kong
and become closely integrated in the New Territories etc. This
will take a day or two to organise. A supplementary list will be submitted; but meanwhile I suggest this list should go forward
so that IAD can begin getting the invitations out. Personnel
Services Department have authorised up to 250 guests at £2 a head. The present list totals only 230, so we have plenty in hand, as
there are bound to be some refusals.
