DINNER PARTY FOR MR Y K PAO AND SIR Y K KAN

1. Mr Guest asked the department to produce a suggested guest

list for a dinner to be given by Mr & Mrs Royle on 5 June in

honour of Sir Y K Kan and Mr Y K Pao. We were asked to suggest

a list of about 30 people, which could then be compared with a

list which Mr Pao's office is, I understand, producing; a composite

list of about 40 people would then be drawn up.

2. I attach a list. I have not included Parliamentarians,

as I assume that Mr Royle will have his own views about whom

to ask. Mr & Mrs Tilney and Mr & Mrs Dan Jones are included in

the lunch to be given by Mr & Mrs Royle on 22 May for Mr & Mrs

Lawrence Kadoorie, with Mr & Mrs Costain and Mr & Mrs Jopling

as reserves. I had thought of suggesting that Mr Royle might

wish to consider inviting Mr Sillars and/or Mr Lamond. То
