Mr Royle has asked whether he should give a lunch

for Mr & Mrs Dhun Ruttonjee (see attached letter

from Ruttonjee to Mr Royle).

Mr Ruttonjee is an ex-member of Legco

(1953-68).

I attach a personality note on him

prepared by the Secretariat for Home Affairs,

together with the text of his speech in the 1968

Budget Debate which is referred to in the note.

Mr Royle is doing rather a lot of entertaining

for Hong Kong at the moment, and we might have

difficulty finding someone to cover the cost of a

lunch for Mr Ruttonjee. Could we suggest that

Mr Royle might simply invite him for a drink?

It really depends how well he knows them personally.
