I should be grateful if you would seek the Foreign Secretary's approval for the following overseas visits which Sir Geoffrey proponon to make during the ɑourne of thin year. The dateA proposed are still very tentative and they will, of course, be subject to the prior demands of Cabinet and Parliament.

The Minister hopes to meet Sir Michael Palliser,
Sir Christopher Soames, Signor Mugnozza (Commissioner consumer affairs) and M. Borschette (Commissioner competition policy).
22 APRIL-3 MAY - JAPAN AND HONG KONG
(Accompanied by Lady Howe - subject to the Prime Minister's approval). The visit is intended as a trade promotion exercise. The Minister envisages that Lady Howe will support him at official functions and, in addition, will follow her own programme in the crime prevention/treatment of offenders field. (Lord Hunt, Chairman of the Parole Board has, I understand, already offered to assist in arranging a suitable programme for Lady Howe).
