The future of the armoured stockpile has been resolved by CDS
and the Governor and is no longer a live issue. It is likely that by
the time you arrive in Hong Kong this matter, particularly in view
of the current local Press interest, may have become public knowledge.
However if no announcement has been made, you may wish to discuss
with the Governor and CBF the value and timing of informing the local
press of our intention to withdraw the tanks and introduce the latest
armoured equipment into the resident armoured reconnaissance squadron
in Hong Kong.
