Mr Davies' minute of 12 March.
2.
I attended a lunch on 15 March in honour of the Chinese Ambassador in the House of Commons given by the British/Chinese Parliamentary Group and the Great Britain/ China Committee. During a short speech the Chinese Ambassador said that he was going to propose to the British/Chinese Parliamentary Group that they organise
Lord Kennet a second Parliamentary Delegation to China. was at the lunch and I noticed that he took very obvious note of Mr Sung's remark. Lord Kennet is a member of the Group.
3. I have discussed with HKPD and we agreed that in these circumstances it might be better not to take any further the matter of Lord Kemet's inclusion in the MOD-sponsored visit to the Far East. The Chinese will no doubt follow up the Ambassador's remark in due course. I think we can depend on Lord Kennet not to allow them to forget it.
