Thank you for your letter of 12 April about
Mr Jopling's proposed visit to Hong/Kong during
the Whitsun recess.
Every year the Hong Kong Government invite
a number of Members of Parliament, both
Conservative and Labour, to visit Hong Kong as
their guests. The programme is arranged in
consultation with the Anglo-Hong Kong
Parliamentary Group. Mr Jopling has been
invited as part of this programme and the
Forein and Commonwealth Secretary has no
objection to the visit.
I am sending copies of this letter to
Butler (No 10) and Robertson (Cainet Office).
