Thank you for your letter of 12 April about Mr. Jopling's proposed visit to Hong Kong during the Whitsun recess.
Every year the Hong Kong Government invite a number of Members of Parliament, both Conservative and Labour, to visit Hong Kong as their guests. The programme is arranged fu consultation with the Anglo-Hong Kong Parliamentary Group- Mr. Jopling has been invited as part of this programmno 201 the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary has no objection to the visit.
I am sending copies of this letter to Butler (No. 10) and Robertson (Cabinet Office).
