MR DE ROTHSCHILD

1.

Mr de Rothschild called on me on 22 March. He showed me the enclosed letter of 29 February from Lord Thorneycroft. He is highly incensed at its terms in particular the appointment of Mr Hamm to look after the Hong Kong Trade Advisory Group.

2. According to Rothschild it was only due to his intervention that Mr Angus Ogilvie persuaded Princess Alexander to consider opening the October Exhibition. He does not think that Mr Hamm will be capable of operating it and hinted that there might well now be insufficient support for the Exhibition to proceed.
