VISIT OF PRINCESS ALEXANDRA TO HONG KONG

1.

When Princess Anne last visited Hong Kong there was some discussion as to whether she could go to a ahop called "China Arts" which I understand is a red Chinese shop. In the event she was allowed to do So. I understand that the Governor and other Hong Kong personalities are good customers of this particular shop.

2. Nevertheless in view of the fact that the question of Princess Anne shopping there had been the cause of discussion, Princess Alexandra would like to have an FCO view on the advisability of her visiting this shop when she goes to Hong Kong in October. Brigadier Lewthwaite, who is here in leave as you know, said that he saw no difficulty.
