Thank you for attending this Conference this afternoon.

I welcome

the opportunity afforded by my arrival in Hong Kong to meet the Press in order to tell you something of the work the British Trade Commission is currently engaged in and I will do my best to answer any questions you may have later.

I arrived in Hong Kong this weekend and I am taking over as

Senior Trade Commissioner at a time when the British Trade Commission is heavily engaged both in its normal programine of promoting British trade in Hong Kong and China and also when it is very busy preparing for the British Industrial Exhibition to be held in Hong Kong this coming October.
