VISIT OF HRH PRINCESS ALEXANDRA TO HONG KONG

1. We have been asked to provide by 26 September a short brief on Hong Kong for Princess Alexandra's visit.

2.

A search of the old files for the Princess's visits to Hong Kong in 1961 and 1969 (when she only spent a weekend there) h s failed to turn up copies of any briefs prepared.

3. However, the briefing prepared for Princess Anne's visit to Hong Kong in 1971 provides with a good guide.

4. I suggest therefore that we provide as briefing the following: -

a biographical note on the Governor

(draft attached)

Hong Kong fact sheet (copy which has been brought up to date for Mr Rinnon's visitattached)

a background note on Hong Kong and its con- stitutional position on the lines of that prepared for Princess Anne.

5. If you think that any others ought to be provided, I should be grateful if you could commission them while I am on leave. If not. please R U the file back to me on 18 September and I will prepare the briefs listed above.
