3. It seems to me that if it is decided to involve a Minister it should be one from DTI since the exercise is aimed at promoting Rank Xerox equipment. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications agree. They do not consider that the exercise is a telecommunications one in which it would be appropriate for their Minister to participate. You will no doubt have your own view on participation by Princess Alexander. The only point I would wish to make is that we should ensure that the Royal Family does not become involved in a squabble with industry.

4. My advice would be to refer Mr Watson to the DTI having first given them our views.
