I understand that you are off to the Far East shortly and that

Her Royal Highness will be opening the British Industrial Exhibition

on the 23rd October. Co-incidental with the start of the Exhibition

we shall be opening the first 400 Telecopier link between England and HongKong. This link will be with the Exhibition and in particular

we shall be showing the 400 Telecopier for the first time in the Far East.

The Telecopier sends copies of documents over the ordinary telephone line. To mark the occasion we would very much like to send a message to

Princess Alexandra while she is visiting the Exhibition. I thought it

would be appropriate if we send a message from your children or

perhaps their Nanny. This facsimile transmission will be an historic

occasion in the field of telecommunications and I hope that you will be

agreeable to record it in this way.
