Earlier this month, Y.K. was invited to address the Foreign Correspondents Club in Hongkong and I feel you may be interested to read the text of his speech.
As you know, during past meetings, the subject of Hongkong having a Shipping Registry of its own has been raised and Y.K. is aware of matters such as this having a prominence in your mind and in view of recent and current developments between Hongkong and
the Department of Trade and Industry in London, it is hoped that a positive step will be made towards recognizing the desirability of a Hongkong Shipping Registry in the not too distant future.
