the owners of "Flag of Conveniento" or "Ciew of Convenience" vessels who are not party to agreements with bona fide trade unions covering the wages and condition of the

1.T F. agreements which will provide for wages and conditions of employment and repatilation provisions acceptable to the International Trade Union movement.

Australian ships and crews are used to carry cargo for which at present Australian Exporters and Importers and bodies such as the B P.C. and the Australian Wheat Board now charter "flags of convenience" or "crew of convenience" vessels.

The Unions also demand that the Australian Government should take action to determine that a percentage of all Australian exports and imports should be carried in Australian Flag ships and that they should not allow foreign vessels to operate in the coastal trade without agreement of the Unions.

In order to give effect to the campaign the Unions determino:

The ACTU to arrange conferences between the Unions involved and the Australian Wheat Board, the Australian Barley Board and the B.P.C. and other appropriate interests in order to place the Unions views before those partios.

The ACTU to arrange a conference between the Unions involved and the Minister for Shipping and Transport and the Minister for Trade, to place the Tinions submissions that Australian vessels shonid carry a percentage of Australian exports and imports.
