HONG KONG SHIPFING REGISTER

1 I wrote to you on 13 and 14 June in connection with the Frime Minister's undertaking to Mr Y K Pao, the Hong Kong shipping magnate, to look into the question of a Hong Kong register of shipping.

2 I have now had drawn to my attention Article 8(i) of the Bermuda Merchant Shipping Act 1930. I attach a copy. I am not at all clear in my own mind whether this is of direct relevance to the Hong Kong position but thought that whoever is dealing with it in your department might like to see it.
