You will have seen the telegram I sent to Hong Kong about the suggestion that the Prime Minister might see Mr Pao. Before sending that telegram and after discussing the position with Mr Logan I telephoned Mr William Lee to find out the background to this request. I know Mr Lee fairly well and he said that when Mr Pao was last in London he had had lunch with Mr Kitson who had suggested that the next time Mr Pao was here he should let Mr Kitson know because he (Mr Kitson) might be able to arrange for him (Mr Pao) to meet the Prime Minister.
