HONG KONG: JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS
I attach copies of a letter received by me today from Mrs Jackson-
Lipkin, with copies of my acknowledgement, and a draft communica-
tion to Hong Kong for your consideration, which could go either
saving or by telegram.
2. Copies of this minute and its enclosures go to Mr. Fifoot,
who agrees with the terms of the draft, and to Gibraltar and
General Department.

This follows on an earlier exchange of letters between Mrs Jackson-Lipkin and Mr Rushford about which we telegraphed Hong Kong, sending copies of the correspondence by bag.
2 I do not think there is any need at this stage for Mr Rushford's further comments to go by tele- gram: I suggest it issues as a Saving-gram unless you would prefer to write a letter to the Acting Colonial Secretary.
3 As indicated in this latest letter from Mrs Jackson-Lipkin the possible candidacy of Justice Trainer has been mentioned publicly (see front page of the attached South China Morning Post for 5 August).
