The programme

of the tour is still subject to change: see provisional programme attached.

2. I have discussed the organisation of the briefing with Mr Grattan. It would be helpful if the Geographical Departments concerned would make themselves responsible for the submission of the briefs on the countries which they cover. In each case, EID (1) will send the EEC briefs in final form to the Departments concerned by close of play on 21 August, so that they can be submitted to ir Grattan with the other briefs in time to meet Mr Pakenham's deadline of 29 August (Monday 28 August is a holiday).

3. It would be a helpful first step, if you agree with this procedure, for the Geographical Departments to draw up a preliminary list of the likely briefing requirements. These should be sent to Mr Grattan and copied to me. (The list may well need amendment as time goes by).
