HONG KONG

HONG KONG AND THE EEC: GENERAL

POINTS TO MAKE

1. We believe that the arrangements we negotiated with

the Community under which Hong Kong is a beneficiary to

the EEC's system of GPS is an important concession that

will be of considerable value to Hong Kong in the long tera.

We recognise that in the period since the introauction

of the EEC's GPS things have not always been straightfozy ro.

3. As a full member of the Community we shall be more

closely involved in this question and as from 1974 our 5

and that of the Community will be unified.

We welcome close consultation with the Hong Kong

Government on this question. We have negotiated a ta.

arrangement for Hong Kong; but this does not mean th

interest stops there. We are anxious that the Co10.

do as well as possible from enlargement and will uo

to help.
