The Indian High Commissioner called on Mr. Rippon this morning to discuss Community affairs. At the end of the meeting Mr. Pant said how delighted his Government would be if Mr. Rippon could find time to visit Delhi, at some point.

2. Mr. Rippon said that he too was anxious to have the chance to continue our consultation with the Indians on Community matters, and wondered whether September would be convenient. ir. Pant said it would.

3. We have already discussed in a preliminary way the modalities of Mr. Rippon's tour of Asia.

Perhaps we could have another word about this early next week. Mr. Pant said he would be happy to make the relevant arrangements but I agree with you that it might be easier to organise it, in the first place at any rate, through our High Commission in Delhi. We shall of course need to keep the Indians here in the picture.
