VISIT OF THE GOVERNOR TO THE UK
1. Mrs Pickford of National & Grindlays Bank telephoned this afternoon to ask when the Governor would be in London. I told her he would be here from 5-8 September. Lord Aldington, Chairman of National & Grindlays Bank, would like to invite Sir Murray to lunch one day when he is in London.
2.
I told Mrs Pickford that we would convey the invitation to the Governor and get in touch with her later.

Mr Crowson Mr Laird
The reason for this invitation presumably is
because National & Grindleys has just opened an office
in Hong Kong see attached press cutting from the Asian.
Sir Murray's movements only give him four lunch times
in London in September, and one of these is already
booked for the Hong Kong Association. It is probably
that others, for instance Mr Royle or Mr Wilford, may
wish to give him lunch.
I think we should put this invitation to the
Governor. Perhaps the next time Mr Laird writes to
him about his leave (possibly in reply to the letter
we are awaiting at the moment) he could mention this.
The Director of the Security Service has also
asked to see Sir Murray when he is in London and I
will arrange an appointment at a suitable time.
