Newspapers & Daily CUI Summary

(a)

It is hoped that it will be possible to get sets of UK newspapers to the Party via Hong Kong.

(b) A daily news summary will be telexed by COI to the Embassy in Peking and the Governor, Hong Kong.

Details are given at Appendix III.

Gifts

Although it is thought that a formal exchange of gifts will not be necessary, one or two gifts and 3 or 4 picture books will be obtained on a sale or return basis.

14. Climate & Clothing

The weather is likely to be dry, crisp and cold and perhaps windy out of doors; overcoats and fur coats will be a good idea. Indoors there is ample heating and clothes should therefore not be too heavy. Black tie will not be required.

Finance

(a) The costs of the visit will be borne by Parent Departments;

Common service costs will be borne by the FCO Vote (Special Missions).

(b) The question of costs for British entertainment is

being considered.

(c) The Embassy is asked to subsist the main party upon

arrival; details will be given in the Administrative Arrangements.

16. dministration
