Date and Place of Meetings

(a)

The Secretary of State will arrive in Peking on Sunday 29 October and will leave for Hong Kong on Thursday 2 November. He will depart from Hong Kong on

3 November and arrive back at Heathrow Airport on 4 November.

(b) Arrangements for the visit to Hong Kong are given at

Appendix II.

Composition of Delegation

The composition is given at Appendix I.

3. Travel

Details are not yet

Will be in a VC 10 of 46 Group RF. firm but it is proposed, depending on various night flying restrictions to leave Leuchars between midnight 27/28 October and 0900 hrs 28 October and to arrive in Peking during daylight on 29 October.

Serial Nos. 16, 17 and 18 will travel out to Peking independently.

Passports & Health

Valid passports will be required.

China and the USA.

Visas will be required for Passports should be sent to Mr JR Moore, Conference & Visits Section, Protocol & Conference Department, Room G 7/G (Main xt. 500) as soon as possible. Vaccination against smallpox and inoculation against cholera is necessary. The CSM will be at the Private Office on Monday 23 October at 1730 for vaccination etc. If this time is inconvenient it is possible to have vaccinations etc at the C.S. Medical Advisers Office, Petty France, daily between 1130 and 12 mid-day.

Living Accommodation

(a) The Chinese Government are putting a Government Guest

House at the disposal of the secretary of State and most members of the delegation.

(b) The Embassy will advise shortly about accommodation

for the rest of the delegation.

(c)

A detailed allocation will be given later.
