In paragraph 3 of his minute of 6 September to Mr Evans, Mr Acland suggested that the press conference which the Secretary of State will give in Hong Kong should take place "possibly at the airport before departure since the best facilities are apparently there."

When the Secretary of State spoke to members of the press on his arrival at Hong Kong airport earlier this year, we were all crowded into a small rather stuffy room; and Mr Weait tells me that the same thing happened when Mr Royle saw the press in Hong Kong. There may be good facilities elsewhere in the airport, but if there are we have not seen them.

On the other hand, there is Beaconsfield House, quite close to Government House, where the Secretary of State gave a fully fledged press conference and I recommend that we should use the same place again.
