As I explained in Hong Kong, I am convinced that,

in terms of the Common Market, Hong Kong's interests

will be and Britain's interests are complementary and not

opposed to each other.

18. In the negotiations for Britain's entry into the

Community we fought hard for Hong Kong's interests

and we shall continue to do so after we become a full

Member of the Community.

19. When in Hong Kong I undertook to look further

20. Free primary education was introduced last year

in Government and Government aided schools; and a

scheme for compulsory school attendance in certain

circumstances has also been introduced.

21. A total of 73 new secondary schools are in the

process of planning or construction and a re

in an expanded programme of aided secondary

education.
