BEGINS. To ask the Secretary of State for

Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether he will

make a statement about his recent visit to Hong

Kong.

BEGINS. I had wide ranging discussions with

the Governor and the Official and Unofficial

Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils.

I also had the opportunity of addressing a

large gathering of businessmen, industrialists

and other leading members of the community.

I was filled with admiration at Hong Kong's

achievements which are remarkable by any standards.
