1. The BBC Eastern end Far Lastern Services have asked

if they may record a taped, rudlo interview with the

Secretary of State before his forthcoming visits to India,

Thailand, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The timing would be at the

Secretary of tate's convenience: 30 60 minutes would be

required,
