We agreed that the Air India flight looks the best when the time difference is taken into account.
4. The best flight, for your purpose, from New Delhi to Bangkok, on Tuesday 8 February. would be TG 304 departing at 1450 hours. and arriving at 2000 hours. The only other flight is impossibly early in the morning.
5. There is no saving in money by going direct to Hong Kong from New Delhi, and I take it therefore, that everybody concerned should go on to Bangkok with you.
I also assume that thereafter the flight programme will be as in Miss Crpe's minute of 29 December to Mr Grattan, although Mov Ops (RAF) are looking at the very faint possibility of an RAF Comet being available for the leg Bangkok/ Hong Kong. This, if available, would be one of the back-up aircraft to The Queen's VC 10.
6. The journey from Bangkok to U Tapao on Wednesday 9 February is a bit of a problem, but I understand the Ambassador is going by car and boarding Britannia that night. Will there be just the Secretary of State, Lady Douglas-Home, yourself and a Detective for this part of the trip? I imagine the Embassy will have sufficient suitable cars, but I will look at the possibility of a Comet being available.
We are working on the full composition of the party now being as follows:
7.
Secretary of State
Lady Douglas-Home Yourself
Mr Grattan
Miss Holder
Miss Hurrell
