I don't think there is any need to give any comments on the political future of the New Territories.

I think everyone knows that the New Territories is
part of Hong Kong and I don't think there is any need
for me to give any comment on that at all. I think
it is clear that our relations with China being good
obviously is very benefitial to Hong Kong. This is
something which gives me great satisfaction because
of my personal interest of Hong Kong.

Mr. Chalfont Wong has just arrived in London. Will
you be meeting him when he returns and follow up on the discussions, strictly in relation to Hong Kong?
No, I'm very sad I shall not be meeting him. In fact, he was my host in Peking. I had nearly fourteen hours of conversations when I was in Feking in June and most of them, ten hours of them, were with Chalfont Wong and I formed the highest regard for him personally, an extremely able and intelligent man and I was hoping to be able to be host to him in London. Unfortunately he has always planned to call in on London on his way back from the United Nations to China and this has coincided with my visit here to Hong Kong.
I shall be going on from here to Bangkok in Tailand where I shall be having talks with Tai Ministers and seeing the King tomorrow, and then I'm going up to Nepal where I am opening a road which is being built for British aid and I am seeing Nepalise Ministers and visiting the Ghurka recruiting entainment there, and then on down to India, so unfortunately I won't be back in London in time to see my good friend Chalfont wong... But, of course, my other. colleagues.in London will be having discussions with him.
Do you forsee that Government in Hong Kong will be an important province in the near future???
