ADDITIONAL SEATS IN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Hong Kong Additional Instructions 1972, which were approved by
Her Majesty the Queen on June 28, 1972 were published in the Hong Kong Government
Gazette today (July 14).
They provide for the appointment of four additional members - two
Official and two Unofficial to the Legislative Council.
Two of these additional seats have been filled with effect from July 1,
1972 by the appointment of the Honourable G.T. Rowe, C.B.E., J.P., the Director
of Social Welfare, as an Orficial memper, and the Honourable R.H. Lobo, O.B.E.,
J.P
as an Unofficial Member.
It is not proposed to fill the remaining two additional seats one
Official and one Unofficial at present.
NEW PIER IN MA TAU KOK
$400,000.
A new public pier is to be built at Ma Tau Kok at a cost of about
The covered reinforced concrete pier will have an area of about 3,200
square feet, and will provide three berthing places for vessels with displacement
not exceeding 100 tons.
Constraction work will begin in September, and the pier should be
ready for use by the middle of next year.
