HONG KONG UNDERGROUND

SPECIAL GROUP FORMED BY MAJOR BRITISH FIRMS

A number of major companies in the Civil Engineering and Railway Equipment Industries in the United Kingdom have come together to form a Group to compete for the Hong Kong underground project, In the event of a favourable decision to proceed being taken by the Hong Kong Government.

The combination of the skills and world-wide experience of the

members of the Group enables it to undertake all the aspects of the complex construction and equipment for a rapid transit project which In Hong Kong will include submerged tube tunnelling under the harbour. Richard Costain Ltd., one of the companies involved, is already engaged

In the construction of the cross harbour road tunnel In Hong Kong, involving

similar techniques.

4 Supping of

The companies have had recent experience in the construction and the equipment for the Victoria Line for London Transport and have a long standing and high reputation for large scale works outside the United

Kingdom.
