Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Bri- tain and Ireland, George John Robert Gordon, Esquire, her Minister Plenipotentiary to the Swiss Confederation;

And the Federal Council of the Swiss Confederation, Jonas Furrer, Doctor of Laws, Presi- dent of the Swiss Confederation; and Frederick Frey Herosée, Federal Colonel, Member of the Swiss Federal Council;

Who, after having communi- cated to each other their respec- tive full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed upon and concluded the following Articles:

ART. I. The subjects of Her Britannic Majesty shall be ad- mitted to reside in each of the Swiss Cantons on the same con- ditions, and on the same footing, as citizens of the other Swiss Cantons. In the same manner, Swiss citizens shall be admitted to reside in all the territories of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on the same conditions, and on the same foot- ing, as British subjects.

Consequently, the subjects and citizens of either of the 2 Con- tracting Parties shall, provided they conform to the laws of the country, be at liberty, with their families, to enter, establish them- selves, reside, and remain in any art of the territories of the other. They may hire and oc- cupy houses and warehouses for

Lesquels, après s'être commu- niqué leurs pleins pouvoirs re- spectifs, trouvés en bonne et due forme, ont arrêté et signé les Articles suivants :

ART. I. Les sujets de Sa Majesté Britannique seront ad- mis à résider dans chaque Can- ton Suisse aux mêmes conditions et sur le même pied que les

citoyens citoyens des autres Cantons Suisses. De même les citoyens Suisses seront admis à résider dans tous les territoires du Roy- aume Uni de la Grande Bretagne et d'Irlande, aux mêmes condi- tions et sur le même pied que les sujets Britanniques.

En conséquence, et pourvu qu'ils se conforment aux lois du pays, les sujets et les citoyens de chacune des 2 Parties Contrac- tantes seront, ainsi que leurs familles, libres d'entrer, de s'éta- blir, de résider, et de séjourner dans chaque partie des territoires de l'autre.
