minister ion ionita had a cordial and friendly conversation with the chinese guests and gave a luncheon for all the members of the chinese military friendship delegation.

brazilian peasants in parana stats wage armed resistance against suppression by landlord and police
peking, august 23 chsinhua) - peasants of ponte queimada, in santa helena city in the east of parana state, brazil, recently launched armed resistance against the landlords and reactionary military police forces who had seized their Land, according to a report from brasilia.
according to the report, peasants of the latifundium "santa rita" of this region ambushed a group of hatchetmen of the Landlords and killed four of them. Later, 120 armed peasants assaulted the offices of the company of agriculture, Live-stock raising and industry belonging to big landlords of this region, in protest against the company's occupation of the peasants' land, killing six of those who had seized the land. the local government called out a battalion of military police for suppression. but the peasants defied brute force and persisted in struggle.
the peasants in the region have been fighting for safeguarding their land for years. a case in point is the Latifundium of santa rita,part of which has been possessed and worked on by over 400 peasants since 1960. beginning 1969, the big landlords of the latifundium, helped by military police, had tried to evict the peasants, but met their resistance. the peasants shot dead a military policeman and hunted down hooligans sent in by the landlord, driving them
away.
