All told the officers how grateful they were for help at this
time, and many recounted some of their most harrowing experiences. It
was encouraging for the visitors to note how already, a week after the
disaster, a good portion of the damage had been either repaired or removed,
and how life was rapidly returning to normal.
Said Mr. T.P. Khoo, Senior Principal Social Welfare Officer,
Family Services Division:
"These visits have great psychological value
as a follow-up service. The officers enjoyed the work, and the victims
appreciated the personal sympathy shown."
