HONG KONG DEFENCE CONTRIBUTION

1. At their meeting on 23 July, the Defence and

Oversea Policy Committee decided that the Governor

should be instructed to do his utmost to secure

the payment of a defence contribution of £8 million

a year.

2. I am glad to be able to report that the

Council to agree to make such a contribution.
