Will an increase of Defence Cost or not draws the

attention of the residents (Hong Kong)?

Will the British Conservative Government which

is in crisis and difficulties still grasp tight on its existing colonial profits by snatching more "Defence Cost" from Hong Kong in the future?

In yesterday's Legislative Council meeting, the Hong Kong British Financial Secretary expressed that the future amount of Defence Contribution by HK is still under consideration and the existing agreement will expire on 31 March this year.

In a White Paper published on 17th February by the British Conservative Government, it stressed that Britain would maintain its Forces in South East Asia. Does it mean that Hong Kong will be further squeezed in "Defence Cost"? HK people is closely watching this matter.

The explanation given by the Financial Secretary for the delay in making a decision on the amount of Defence cost by HK was that there is no basis for making & decision as the London Government has not yet reached its final decision about the arrangement of her forces in the Far Eastern Defence.
