EQUIPMENT FOR TECHNICAL INSTITUTES

1. When Mr Koyle met Unofficial Members of Councils

last October they raised need for further technical

education in Hong Kong and pressed for financial help

from the UK. In particular, P Y Tang suggested HMG

might provide equipment for the four new institutes

proposed by the Industrial Training Advisory Committee.

2. Mr Royle has discussed this with Minister of

Overseas Development and it has now been agreed that

HMG should provide grants of £100,000 for purchase of

equipment for each of the four technical institutes

over a period of four years. The first grant could
